                                                  CWelcome to the African Village

African cuisine is as diverse as the vast continent of Africa itself. Much of the cuisine came about  as the result of the merging of many adventurous journeys  and a history of the old world. Tradiotional African food has become the root of many cuisines in the new world today. African cuisine can be divided into four regions - the North, the South, the East and the West.

In Northern Africa, the cuisine was largely influenced by the foods of the Middle East. In East Africa, a sosphicated cuisine evolved, influenced by the rich history dating back to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, as well as migrant Asian workers working on the East African railway. In Southern Africa, mainly because of its geography, the cuisine was influenced largely by Asian and European cultures. In West Africa, there was little influence on its cuisine from the outside world. As it turns out, many West African foods and flavors found their way into Creole, Soul, Cajun and Caribbean cuisine.

The African Village opened in November  2002, with the intention of  remaining  true to African cuisine. As diverse as the cuisine is, we continue to update our menu to ensure that our customers will find an item from each of the four regions - Couscous from the North, Ugali and Injera from the East, Fufu and Dodoh from the West and Salza or Nshima from the South, just to name a few. We hope that your visit to our restaurant will be an exhilerating experience of the taste of Africa.
